About OM - OM International

Operation Mobilisation (OM) traces its roots to the answered prayers of an American housewife, Dorothea Clapp, who prayed faithfully for the students in her local high school, and asked God to touch the world through their lives. She gave the Gospel of John to one of the students, who later gave his life to the Lord at a Billy Graham meeting. That young man was George Verwer, who founded OM in 1957.

OM is an interdenominational organisation that highly values the local church. Every OMer is sent from and supported by their local church. OM also works closely with a number of other Christian organisations.

OM works in over 110 countries, motivating and equipping people to share God’s love with people all over the world. OM seeks to encourage and resource the church, especially in areas of the world where Christ is least known, and where no churches exist, aims to plant locally-led ones.
